Operating System independence
AMPS provide complete abstraction from the underlying operating system, much like a virtual machine. Once AMPS is ported to an OS, the application runs on that OS unmodified. We have demonstrated this feature of AMPS by running AMPS based Session Initiation Protocol Proxy server on both Linux and Windows completely un-modified.
AMPS is being ported to other OSes including Solaris, MacOS, Symbian and a long list.
Employing industry best practices
AMPS provides Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for these common tasks such as memory and buffer management, timer management, management of transport level connections, sending and receiving of messages over the network, managing caching of objects to increase performance, protection against overload conditions, interfacing with databases, performing file I/O for event logging and tracing, taking advantage of multiple CPUs, and most importantly, management and scheduling of events. AMPS utilizes industry best practices for implementation of these APIs and uses efficient algorithms and data structures to minimize performance bottlenecks.
Security:
AMPS controls all transport between events and other applications. AMPS implements industry's best known security mechanisms and relieves the application of implementing security in it. It also makes sure that as newer and stronger security mechanisms are supported by AMPS, all applications will be able to use them without any modifications.
